Most of the songs were written & recorded from March 2020 to June 2022, with many delays, due to COVID, Quarantines, Cancer(s), Caregiving, & the passing of too many dear friends & loved ones.
The first 2 songs,”Down At The Dolphin Lounge” & “Amazing Dreams”, are the last 2 recordings that Peter and his friend, producer & bandmate of 25 years, Joel Guild, completed together. Joel passed away after a brave fight with cancer in December of 2021. In the year before, he taught Peter as much as he possibly could about recording techniques, studio engineering and mixing.
Most of the songs are autobiographical in nature and have no significant deep meanings. Just a collection of catchy songs, covering many different styles from rockin' blues to country to psychedelia to gentle love songs.

The TOP HAT BAND (THB) was formed in 1979 by Michael “Flash”Foster,
Rob McCormick, and Mike Dorhn. Later that year, Flash invited Peter Conrad
to join the band, and in 1980, Don Rinehart became the new bassist for the
group. THB were together from 1979-1982, writing and recording original songs,
playing live shows, and making appearances on local Columbus, OH radio
stations, most notably with their 1981 song, “Inspecting the City”.After the
band broke up in 1982, Peter and Flash continued to play together in more
bands until the mid-1990’s. During the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020, Peter went
back and listened to every THB rehearsal, live show, and recording session,
transferring those fragile old cassette tapes to digital formats. The result is this
CD of 20 original songs, 12 by Peter, 7 by Michael and 1 by theTop Hat Band!
Time has not been kind to these 40-year-old original cassette recordings, often
resulting in, glitches, tape wrinkles and hiss. A lot of time and effort went into
restoring these tracks so that the original energy and musicianship is featured!
40 years later, it’s the very best of, The TOP HAT BAND!
